I received these “stars” from my mother in law years ago. They had been passed down to her from her husband’s side of the family. His memory is that they were sewn from flour sacks by his own grandmother. I probably didn’t do it correctly for preserving the history of the materials but I wanted to honor my father-in-law with a quilt for Christmas. They had been sitting in my stash for about ten years. I machine appliquéd the stars onto navy squares and then sewed the squares together.
