The horses have a long story behind them. I have had them in my possession for over 25 years. My mom volunteered me to make them into a quilt for a friend of hers without my knowledge. I had no clue how to do something like that. There were 12 horses and I thought I had to use all of them. I tried a couple times over the years but it looked awful. I tore them apart and shoved them back in the drawer. Well when we moved from Washington State to West Virginia they made the trip with us. When I meet the sweet little old neighbor lady she started showing me her quits. I told her about the horses and she encouraged me to try again. She thought the log cabin blocks would go perfectly. So I tried it. I am so grateful to my neighbor for giving me the courage to try... I have never done more than a child's basic type quilt pattern. I gotta say I am pleased with how this is coming together. Now I just have to decide if I should border it... Then ship it off to the long armer. Too bad Mom passed away 3 years ago and never got to see it completed. She used to ask me about it every couple of years or so and I just told her I didn't know what to do with them. The sad thing is I don't even know who her friend was to be able to send this or make her another one since there are extra horses... I will just have to enjoy it myself and feel good that I actually was able to complete it.
