Journal Notes

My mom was working as a professor in Bhutan as a sabbatical. While she was there, there were a couple people who helped her with everything she needed and were her close friends. One day she called me when she was with them, and we talked about my quilting. When I showed them my scrappy bargello, one of them really admired it. She got the idea she could buy it from me and give to him as an appreciation gift, but that left the other person, Sarah, giftless. My brother and dad were going to visit my mom in a week, and I promised her I could make this quilt in time for Sarah. All week long I was busy cutting, piecing, quilting, and binding. I chose the pantograph Blooms because it looked most like India’s national flower, the lotus, and Sarah is Indian. I finished it in time for my dad and brother to fly to Bhutan. My mom let me know that Sarah really appreciated it.
