Challenge for Thousand Island Quilt guild for the 2026 year. We were given 3 fabrics and had to make a quilt with the theme "Gone With The Wind" I used thread painting for her hair, the tree and leaves. Art inspired by quilters Bridget O'Flaherty, Rachel Derstine and artist Andrew Scott Things I like: Her hair and face... actually all of her! She turned out just like i wanted. (Her shoes 🥰) The tree! I wasnt even going to do a tree... but it turned out so good! (The knot!) The kite... and string and how it can move. Better than I planned. Great size. 18" x 18" was easy to work with. Learnings: Use fusible interfacing on applique pieces before sewing down. Prevents fraying. Sew binding to back and bring to front to avoid "missed" areas. Wish I had used a dark thread on the binding.
