64w x 85l I have been thinking in general about making an America 250 quilt since last 4th of July. I wanted to use the components of the flag but in a non-traditional way. I started with the improv stars, white on blue, 50 to represent the states. Then I made the 6 blue on white to represent the territories of the US. I also discovered that there are 11 uninhabited territories; those I represented with the red on blue. Then I moved on to the stripes and made the traditional 13, to represent the colonies, but put them on the diagonal. The quilting is a combination of the iconic symbols and phrases from “This Land Is Your Land”, “God Bless America”, and “America tithe Beautiful “.
