Journal Notes

My scraps and strings bins were overflowing. Our neighbors/church friends just welcomed a new granddaughter, so I asked if the nursery had a theme yet. The direction I got was "woodsy with pink" so I pulled all of my pinks and browns, in a variety of shades, and a dark print from my stash that married the two colors well. I mocked up the blocks in a few different configurations and got started. It's a dark 1.5" strip through the center diagonal of each (8.5" square) foundation paper, then pinks/corals to fill out one side of the block, and browns/tans filling out the other side, both in a dark to light configuration. I had just enough of the dark brown fabric left over to add a mitered border, and do the same fabric as binding with a peach flange (my first time with mitered borders and flange binding! I would do both again for sure!) I am absolutely obsessed with how this came out and can't wait to make more string quilts ASAP! Look how she sparkles!! And it is all made 100% from scraps and stash just hanging around my house!
