Prepping for quilt camp - project #1. I have been wanting to make this project for a while, the pattern has been in the queue. I wasn’t sure on what fabric to use but I had these dat quarters from a shop in Kansas that were all part of the same line. But after looking at the pattern closer, I didn’t have enough fabric but I stopped at the shop on the way to SE Kansas and they still had the fabric so I bought another set of fat quarters. I was one color/pattern short so I added an oddball to the mix. The cutting is complicated… lots of sizes…and since I was using fat quarters I had to be careful of what cut is did first, etc. There were a few miscuts, but luckily I had enough fabric. And then laying it all out and putting them in rows takes a bit too. It was the first project I tackled at quilt camp. I should have paid a little closer to the lining up of seams…but…and in the end I think the fabrics are a little too light because it is difficult to see the pattern. You can hardly see the “ribbon” running through the quilt. I would like to make this pattern again but use more distinct colors, maybe a Christmas version with red, green, gold, blue, etc.
