My daughter wanted a fall quilt and I had a bear claws pattern that I thought would make a pretty quilt using scrappy fall colors. The pattern called for an arrangement of 4 bear claws per block. When I started putting it together, I didn’t like it at all… it was too scrappy and didn’t look like leaves at all. So I began playing around with the smaller squares and instead of using 4 bear claws per block I tried using three and made a block resembling a stem for the 4th square in the block. I then played around with the arrangement and added a patchwork border. Overall, I’m pretty pleased with the outcome.
