I purchased Kaffe Fasset fabrics to use in the next 100 days 100 blocks quilt - which included a package of layer cakes. I wanted to make a throw size quilt to go with the bigger 100 days bed quilt and searched layer cake patterns. Stephanie's pattern popped up and when she did a Kaffe print and stated that hot pink was a neutral, I was sold. Made the mistake of starching the layer cakes and they shrunk. This messed up the block size and I didn't have the brain space to figure out how to fix it. Pulled it out 6 months later and just muscled through it. Lost 1/2" of width per block, but got it done. Even though this was a massive throw, I thought it needed a border. Posted samples of black, green & pink borders in a Reddit poll. To my surprise, a random user suggested dark blue. Pulled it out and Bear, James and I agreed that the blue border was perfect. The small piece of blue fabric was the perfect amount also. I had a piece about 3" x 26" remaining after sewing the border on. 2nd quilt quilted with my Cutie Breeze Frame. Top 52" x 74" before borders. After borders 56" x 78" After quilting 54.5" x 76" Batting: Pellon All Natural Cotton Batting
