Journal Notes

As my son completes 20 years in the Air Force I want his quilt to inspire conversation-not tell the whole story. His story is better told through his lens. I have collected fabrics for the entire 20 years of his service. Retirement is May 22, 2026 at the USAF Memorial at Arlington, VA. Will it be done? I hope so…. Between learning paper piecing and printing photos on fabric. This is a BIG project. Finally have the center collage nearly finished. I have some more things to include before I attach them all together. Finally I feel it is coming together. Obviously I did not get this done for the ceremony-I needed info I could not get from my son so I had to put this to the side while I worked on 2 other quilts. I WILL have this done for the family cruise mid July. Quilt top done. After dry fitting several possibilities. I discovered the downside of not having a complete “plan”. Not enough fabric and the inability to purchase more. I think the final top is perfect. Extra work with a lot of piecing fabrics together. Overall…I am very happy with the outcome.
