There is a rail fence along the road to access our lake place. I have taken pictures of the wildflowers and this is my attempt to preserve them in fabric. I used raw edge fusible appliqué for the fence and flowers and added embroidery details, including my interpretation of some of the prairie grasses. I created a Star border to pay homage to the Native American history in this area( glacial lakes area of northeast South Dakota). I planned to dye some of my fabrics, but only the yellow (used turmeric) was the intense shade I wanted. Used batik scraps for the rest and a hand-dyed fabric for the background, purchased at a secondary quilt show in Paducah, KY during quilt week last April.Won a purple ribbon and Best of Show at 2026 Brown County Fair.
