This was my first ever experience with improv quilting. I participated in 30 Days of Improv online taught by Shannon Frasier. I made several finished pieces from the blocks I had created. This is the one that held the most meaning. I became my mom’s (and dad’s) primary caregiver in December 2020 amid the crazy of Covid. My mom was 91 and had Parkinson’s. She did not know who I was anymore; she did not remember my name. This table runner depicts all the broken pieces of that journey over the next 9 months until her passing in September 2021 at 92. The quilting represents all the rocks in our way and the turmoil. Still there was beauty and it depicts that as well.
