Journal Notes

This was a project. I started many many years ago.. took a class on scenic appliqué where you add pieced blocks as an extension of the landscape. This quilt is about my dad‘s boat la Promesa.. She was a 40 foot down east sailboat that my dad sailed all around Puget Sound down the coast of California and up to Canada.. It broke his heart when he had to sell her, dad‘s health and physical condition was failing and he couldn’t get on the boat anymore.. La Promesa means the promise. She was Dad’s best friend we would sit in the ocean for hours. No words were needed. We just enjoyed the sites and sounds of the sea.
