Journal Notes

A mixed flannel and cotton qt with a checkerboard flannel backing. I basted the quilt using embroidery thread inherited from my grandma, tied at aprox. a 6in interval. First attempt at fmq, alternating thread color and changing technique every row. The quilting is fairly messy. Hand appliqued stuffed characters from the fabric. Bound using machine on the front, hand finishing binding on the back w decorative shooting star motif. Attached binding incorrectly on the front for proper mitered corners so it is tight on the corners in the front and has abt a 1/2in binding in the middle. Overall this is a quilt for a toddler and is sensorally interesting, so my goal is accomplished despite its numerous obvious flaws.
