Journal Notes

07/18/2026 - got this one finished today. I decided to quilt this one on the diagonal. Also at the last minute I decided to do a scalloped edge on the top and bottom, I had to tuck the binding in a few places because I didn’t cut it on the bias, this one is for me so I’m okay with it. I’ve been dying to try the scalloped edge and would love to add it to my quilt I am making for my bed to match my curtains, but I want to get a little better at it before I try it on the large quilt. What do you think? Any suggestions? 07/10/2026 - Got to work on my quilt some today, almost have the quilting finished, should be done tomorrow. 07/08/2026 - Couldn’t work on it for a few days due the the extreme heat, I couldn’t run the iron, it heats up my small sewing room too much. I have the quilt top finished and the backing ready to go. 2 bobbins wound and a new needle in the machine. Tomorrow I’ll get out the bolt of cotton and cut the batting. 07/03/2026 - So I threw a wrench in my own plans. I think that I need another row, it’s not quite big enough So today I’m making some more blocks to add to the width of the quilt. 07/02/2026 - I went out yesterday and found a very soft pink/rose color for the back and trim. The quilt top is finished, I’ll add a pic tomorrow, I need to iron out the seams and then I’m ready to sandwich! 06/30/2026 - I have the rows assembled, but I still have to press the seams. I’m hoping to get the rows sewn together in the next day or two. 06/29/2026 - Finished squaring up the blocks and laid them out. I started sewing the rows today too. 06/28/2026 - Haven’t gotten much done over the last few days, I threw my back out and was laid up for a bit. I’m about 3/4 done trimming the blocks and thought I’d play with the layout, what do you do when you don’t like what you’re making? Hmmm 06/24/2026 - Took a break today from cutting blocks to make a new dress for my tiny dog, I ended up making some scrap fabric, I tried 06/23/2026 - I have a bunch of blocks made, not sure if it’s enough. I’m going to square up the blocks I have made and then start the pattern and see where I land, lol. 06/22/2026 - I’m making this one for my wheelchair to keep my legs warm.
