Did not have enough of center and complement squares (fussy cuts), for the shashing. So, I ordered another fat quarter bundle from Jordan fabrics. So, I will be making another quilt from this fabric… The pattern is found in CHRISTMAS QUILTING by Wendy Sheppard. It is written for a throw size, 3 by 4 blocks. I am making mine 5 by 5 blocks*. Note: I find it easier to consider the shashing as part of the block, attached to the bottom and right of a star. Omitting the right shashing at the end of row. So a block is 12” star plus 6.5” shashing equals 18.5” square. Dawn’s mattress is 60” wide with a 20” drop. The length is 80”. So I am shooting for 80 wide by 100 long. If my math is right the quilt will be approximately 90” wide (including the 2” white border and binding) *OH MY GOSH!! I am so glad I am making these notes before sewing the rows together. And that I ordered more fabric. I see I will need the quilt to be 6 blocks long…which means another row of vertical shashing with trees; and 5 more stars. That will make it 108.5” long. LOL. Converting pattern size is not for dummies! 108 inch backing I need 3.75 yards. I will buy 4 yds to be safe. I like Fat Quarter Shop berry and sage latte prim: sku # WB17402-LATTE. It’s 19.98 per yard, plaid with red, green, and orange. Ordered: $79.92. ETA Sunday march 29. This fabric will not work. It looks dirty next to the top. Note: cream comes in my shades. The picture of the red tree is to remind me to not mix-up the end pieces on a row in a block. ;) Found backing from this same line at Quilty Pleasures in simi valley. 45” wide. So I used 9 1/2 yds. I was able to match the fabric designs at the seams. Not perfect, but okay.
