This is the third quilt donation kit assembled by the Mesa East Quilt Club that I have assembled. The strips in this kit were very straight with only a small deviation here and there, so I felt like I would have my best chance to test my skills on assembling the rest as straight as I could. I didn't do a perfect job, but I see improvement over the previous two quilts. Like the first yellow quilt I assembled, this one also had little variance between the light and medium colors, so it was easy to misalign the blocks and rows, but I only had to rip out one seam once I realized I made an error in the pattern layout! This quilt is intended to be given to a veteran at our community's veterans Day event. Though the fabric choice is red white and blue, the patterns are so busy that it hurts my eyes to look at it. I can see how important fabric choice will be when I create my own quilts. I also see how some of my pieces aren't exactly straight though I really thought I was being careful. There may be some tricks I haven't learned yet to keep my alignment in perfect order be it in how I stitch or how I press the fabric. More practice is required, for sure!
