Journal Notes

I made this quilt as a gift for my sweet niece, Samantha. We share a huge love for thrifting—and an even bigger love for cats (Sammy’s heart for rescues and strays is endless!). My absolute favorite part of making this piece was thrifting side by side for men’s dress shirts, carefully choosing fabrics that matched the coats of her four cats (with one of my own old dress shirts thrown into the mix!). Look closely and you’ll notice I kept original buttons and working pockets from the shirts built right into the block design. And what kind of aunt would I be if I didn’t slip little handwritten notes into those pockets for her to find?
