I always want to learn something new for each quilt. This time it is using 2-1/2” strips and “on point”. Ideas came from the book with instructions. Layout is mine. Have had a difficult time with it being “too much”. So I did get one border complete using the 2.5”’squares left over. Then I added a 6” solid border (planning feathers (FMQ) on the solid gold. This is a queen quilt with a 12” drop. The drop starts at the gold. So one more border planned and I want to do “scallops” for the first time. 🤔 I am adding this slight black line to separate the solid gold from the final border. So happy the quilt top is done! Very happy with the 1/2” black trim on the border separating the solid fabric from final border print. I am glad I did not completely sew down that black border. It’s a tiny detail that should be add a tiny detail after the quilting is done. Now off to get backing fabric… Well I am now working a little each day quilting the center of this quilt-free motion. Honestly the first part (I won’t show you) looks like I quilted it during either a Parkinsons Episode or seizure. Shaky….Now after some practice-it’s getting better. This one was difficult. Mostly with layout and colors. Once I turned the squares on point and selected a final color it all came together. Learning scallops was not as difficult as I thought it would be but I still have not mastered cutting binding on the bias. I will gift this to my sister July 2026.
