I cut dark Christmas fabric 2 1/2” wide and light Christmas fabrics 1 1/2” wide. I seamed all darks together skinny end to skinny end. Then I did the same with the lights. I sewed the dark loooong strip to the light looooong strip cutting off excess which ever is longer. Then I proceeded according to Jelly Roll Race directions. It ends up that darks will touch dark and light will touch light in the assembly. I happily ended up with a quilt sized right for my double bed. I have no idea how long my original strips were. In a regular (2 1/2” wide) jelly roll race quilt, one dimension will end up 64” due to the assembly directions. The other dimension will vary depending on the number of strips used. With this the combination of narrow and wider will result in a strip 3 1/2” wide and end up 72” in one dimension.
