My cousin had a milestone birthday coming up. She’s been in major downsizing mode for several years and has also made it pretty clear to me that she isn’t interested in a quilt from me. She barely humors me on my obsession so I rarely discuss with her. And yet…I wanted to make something for her. She is nutso for anything Minnie Mouse and, like me, has been carrying reusable shopping bags for years. She also lives in a State where they are required. So here they are! I quilted the two larger bag fabrics with an E2E Minnie Mouse bows and ears pattern. The small green bag was my practice bag and I told her it was for her bananas! She found a use for it on her golf cart. She loves them all. Special note on the smallest red bag. That fabric didn’t get E2E. I pulled some pink gingham from my mom’s stash for the interior and quilted it on my domestic machine. She was especially touched about having that included as my mom was a favorite aunt and my cousin also loves gingham. To my surprise she carried that bag with her to Portugal! “A perfect size,” she said! I do have another project in mind I think she will like!
