First time ever doing the Quiltville mystery quilt. It was based on Bonnie's trip to Iceland and encountering the invasive - but beautiful- lupine flower. Recommended colors were pink, purple, ice blue and white low volume fabrics. She knows what I like! I purchased a few fabrics for this project, but mostly pulled from my stash. lolThe pattern was designed to be 80" x 80" - I wanted it to be bigger for my full size bed (Ideal finished size 84 X 90) plus pillow shams. Therefore, I made 20% more pieces than the pattern. I ended up with several unused flying geese units (bummer) and had to make 9 more blocks. To make it longer, I added an extra row, but this meant the flying geese border was going to be off. To fix my flying geese issue, I did a 3" border at the top of the quilt instead of 1” per the pattern. Pillows cover a multitude of sins. This also gave me additional length. I also added a 3rd border to make it wider. Final flimsy size was 83.5 x 94 x 82 x 94.5. Before washing: 81 x 91 April 2026 guild
