I’ve been sewing most of my life, learning from my mom who sewed for as long as I could remember. In high school I made many of my own clothes as a way to be in fashion without spending too much money. Similarly, sewed lots of home decor in my 20s and 30s to have my home looking nice without breaking the bank. I didn’t learn to quilt until I was in my 40s. I had always wanted to learn, my Aunt Carol seemed to be able to turn anything into a beautiful work of art and she was a prolific quilter. When I moved to a new community I decided to take a quilting class to make friends. Best decision of my life! Quilting fits my math brain, gives me a creative outlet without needing to be artistic, and best of all, it gave me a community.
